PRISM and the Princeton Center for Complex Materials (a national Science Foundation Materials Research and Engineering Center) will hold a University- Industry Research Symposium on February 2nd and 3rd, 2006. This symposium will highlight recent research accomplishmentes, large-scale collaborations, impact of industry interactions, and future research plans.
The symposium will be held at Princeton's Friend Center for Engineering Education and includes an array of presentations by academic, industry, and government researchers that are closely aligned with PRISM and PCCM research thrusts in areas such as Quantum Devices/Nanotechnology, Materials and Structures for Life Sciences, Large Area Electronics/ Energy Conversion, and Optical/Wireless Technologies. The morning plenary session will commence with a keynote presentation by Dr. Thomas M. Connelly, Jr. '74, Senior Vice President & Chief Science & Technology Officer, DuPont.
The February 2nd program will include a technical poster session and an evening networking reception.
On the second day of this event, Professor Paul Prucnal will convene a special morning Workshop on Optical and Wireless Communications to examine both commercial and military applications, and to highlight a new IT testbed capability fostered by a generous gift of state-of-the-art telecommunications switching equipment by NEC. Professor Claire Gmachl will conduct a special luncheon session on Emerging Applications in Mid-Infra Red Technologies.
Laboratory tours of our Multi-User Facilities will be organized by Dr. Nan Yao and Dr. Helena Gelskova, and will highlight our new equipment and upagrades for our Imaging and Analysis Center and Micro/Nanofabrication Lab. PRISM and Zyvex will jointly conduct a demo of the Zyvex F100 Nanomanipulator System, which can be used in conjuction with PRISM's Focused Ion Beam/Scanning Electron Microscope system.
Registration fees for Princeton faculty and students (undergraduates, graduates, and post-docs), has been waived. Registration costs for all others will be $75.00 (early registration fee: $50.00 prior to January 23rd, 2006.)
